Quitting my job, going freelance, & moving to Australia

MIND OUT THE WAY HOMIES, hayuuuge blog post coming through.

*Clears throat* ...hi.

After speaking to a few of you on twitter (and doing a lil poll) - you all decided that I should write a post all about my recent life update - quitting my job, going freelance, and moving to THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. (Australia.)

So, y'know, it's gonna be quite wordy. So grab a cuppa or some snacks, because guuuuurl I'm taking you for a ride. (lol whut?)

Quitting my job

I graduated from uni in the summer with a degree (and a ton of, *ahem*, debt) in Photography, and was super lucky to land myself in my first ever full time job role of a Sales & Marketing Executive. I was so excited for this job, and to work in something that I LOVED so soon after graduating was just like a dream come true. I knew that I wanted to work in marketing for so long, so once I set my mind to something, I achieved it.

Anyways, long story short, it wasn't exactly what I thought it was. It was v v v stressy, pressured, and a seriously long commute. I was drained, mentally and physically to be honest. I didn't do as much social media work as I had hoped, and working 9-5 every day, in something that was getting me down, was sending me to a very bad place.

So, I did what I had to do. I handed my notice in. My bosses were super lovely, and I'll miss them so much. But they were so understanding and it took a huge weight from my shoulders.

So...what next?

Well, I put my mind to something before, and achieved that goal. So I'm going to do exactly the same.

My plans to go freelance

Okay, so I love writing. I love blogging. I love social media. I love marketing. I love interacting...and I LOVE being able to do this all on my god damn own. I can schedule work whenever I want to, find my own sponsored content, interact with a range of fabulous people - and this is just ME. It's so me

I want to be a freelancer. I want to be my own boss, work my own hours, CREATE MY OWN JOB. And y'know what? I'm going to reach this goal.

After quitting my day job and spending more time focusing on my blog, I'm so much happier. Which is so important.

I'm slowly starting to make more and more money from my lil' blog (which I only started a year and a half ago) and the more I put effort into it, the better it will get.

Yes, I might struggle for money for a while. But that's what night shifts in a bar are all about, right?

I want this so so bad, and I'm a BIG believer in following your dreams. So that's what I'm going to do.

G'WAAAARN LASS.

Moving to Australia

WAIT WHAT? Did someone say...the land of Oz? (???)

Ha, that's right. This gal right here will be lying on a beach in less than 2 weeks, sweating absolute buckets under the gorgeous sun, in my new sexy swimming costume. (With a cocktail in hand of course.)

Pornstar Martini perlease.

Myself and Luke (my boyfriend) are going to Australia for a year. We don't have many plans yet, other than exploring and just spending quality time together.

Of course, this trip has come at the most perfect time. I can really focus on my freelancing, get it all rollin', and *cough* MAYBE, just maybe, properly start a youtube channel too.

I feel like I'm part of the #ThisGirlCan campaign or something. GOD I feel so refreshed and ambitious, and just DETERMINED to do this.

Of course I'll keep you all updated, and I can't wait to spam my Instagram grid with pretty pool pictures, and snaps of kangaroos. You know the drill.

BBQ anyone??

Anyways, I just want to thank you all for all of your support and encouragement over on twitter. It really does mean the world to me, and to have you guys there every step of the way is such a good feeling.

If I fail, then I fail, but at least I god damn tried.

Claire
